Labor shortages and rising operational costs are the biggest hurdles. 70% of respondents struggle with hiring and retention, while 88% cite rising energy and utility expenses as a top concern.
Attracting New Business
Referrals and word of mouth are a top source of new business, however inbound marketing is growing in importance as businesses recognize the value of digital channels for new client acquisition.
Trends in Technology
While automation and RFID inventory tracking are gaining ground, 58% of laundries still don’t use unique identifiers like barcodes or RFIDs for their linens
Success Metrics
Pounds per operator hour (PPOH) remains the dominant performance metric, with 87% of laundries tracking it. Surprisingly, only 60% measure success through customer satisfaction and retention.
Sustainability Initiatives
Just over half (52%) of laundries have sustainability measures in place, with recycling programs and eco-friendly machinery being the most common.
